Drop the gun, Pick up the pen
Through our Drop the Gun, Pick Up the Pen initiative, we launched a pioneering intervention in the early 1990’s that has lead to the disarmament, rehabilitation and reintegration of thousands of young women and men who were being co-opted into clan based militias by warlords.
Through this project we have been successful in reinserting them back into their societies with non-violent behaviors and alternative livelihoods.
Through our lengthy experience in the field, we have designed a 3-tiered model to Disengage, Rehabilitate and Reintegrate children and young adults from armed groups in contexts of ongoing conflicts as well as preventing the use & recruitment of children into armed forces.
Lauded as Somalia’s 1st community-based disarmament, rehabilitation and reintegration of ex-combatants’ intervention. This project embodies the genesis of our peace building mission and has set the stage for the development of all our other programs.

This network, co-founded by the EPC, connects and supports grassroot peacebuilders across Africa and facilitates knowledge development, access to funding, cross-border cooperation opportunities and joint advocacy efforts between the membership. The rapidly growing network is active in 9 countries and has attracted recognized courageous leaders from across the continent committed to building a peaceful Africa together.

Sister Somalia
Sister Somalia is the first rape crisis center in Somalia, it was established to support survivors of sexual and gender based violence to rebuild and reclaim their lives.
Here, we deliver accessible, decentralized, life-saving care to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. We shape a comprehensive path to recovery after life-altering traumas with and for our clients. Through a personalized spectrum of services designed to protect, advocate for and serve; we empower survivors to rebuild with strength and resilience.
Through our Recovery to Empowerment model; we equip survivors with skills to lead self-determined lives.

Sports 4 Development
We know movement, well-being, and sporting activities can have incredible impact on the healing of young people following devastating life events. With sophisticated and inspired curricula developed and applied in conjunction with the acquisition of new sports skills, we believe we can change lives and have catalytic effects within communities struggling with poverty, crime, conflict and inequality.
